Taking makeup off is a chore to me meaning a quick wipe over the face with a makeup wipe is me done. Till I was scrolling through instagram and spotted a lot of people raving about this new cleansing butter and being easily influenced here I am with it now. 

This cleansing butter is much like the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm but for £36 my student budget can't stretch to those prices. Retailing at £12 the Body Shop's equivalent is perfect for the budget any student is working with.  

With this product a little really does go a long way which helps if you want to get your moneys worth. Using a few pea sized amounts dissolves makeup and even works well on tough mascara and stubborn eyeliner. As advised by a member of staff I use a muslin cloth and warm water to remove the butter and every last bit of makeup is removed. Don't be put off this product if you're not the biggest fan of the camomile smell as the smell is subtle leaving skin feeling soft.

Nivea Express Hydration Primer

The dreaded day my Origins GinZing moisturizer ran out has finally come round and since I'm not working I needed to find a cheaper alternative. I've seen so many reviews before about this raving about how good it was so since it was half price in Tesco there was no harm giving it a go. 

The first thing you notice about this primer is it's fresh scent that isn't too overpowering which is what you want when applying something to your face. When applying this primer it's not thick and tacky on your face it's the complete opposite being lightweight and the smallest amount goes a long way. For a primer you want something that absorbs to the skin quickly and this does just that after leaving it around 20 seconds its fully absorbed ready for the foundation layer to be applied. I used this before going on a night out and after wearing my makeup for around 11 hours in a sweaty environment my makeup was more or less in tact.

If you're looking for a drugstore primer to try out this is definitely one to have a try of.

Victoria's Secret Fragrance Mist

In March I visited New York as part of my 18th birthday present and you can't visit America without going to a Victoria Secret shop or 'store'. I went to the Victoria Secret near to Macy's in New York and spent hours in there choosing which body mist I liked as there are loads to choose from and tones of perfumes as well, every girls dream. 

Love Spell

This mist is 'Cherry Blossom and Peach' which means that this is a really fruity and sweet smelling spray which I love. Whenever I choose a perfume or spray I always choose the sweeter smells as I think they smell summery and feminine  The spray is infused with Aloe Vera to condition the skin and Chamomile to calm. 

Bombshell

When I was in Victoria's Secret there were lots of perfumes to choose from though as I still have a lot of bottles of perfumes at home that I still hadn't used I didn't really want to come back with yet another bottle though I did find the perfume Bombshell to be really nice and was so tempted to buy myself it. Though when looking around near the tills there were some smaller plastic bottles of the perfume which were on offer for $10 which meant I had to buy it. I love how this is a plastic bottle because it means I can just take it to college, to the gym or anywhere in my bag and not have to worry about it being smashed which is what would have happened if I had bought the bottled version for twice the price. This is spray is a blend of purple passion fruit, Shangri-la yellow peony and vanilla orchid and smells amazing. 

Luminous Touch

This spray is quite a sweet smell it's ' White Peach and Sandalwood'. I chose this one as out of the others in the shop the smell wasn't too over powering and it was part of the radience collection. This is also infused with Aloe Vera and Chamomile which I think is a nice added extra to a Spray/Mist.

M.A.C Full Lash Curler

I was always put off using eyelash curlers but after a while I became fed up with my eyelashes looking non existent. When I was in the M.A.C shop buying my eye shadow palette and eye shadow brush it only made sense to by an eyelash curler fitting in with the eye product theme. The eyelash curler comes with an extra rubber pad that protects your eyelashes. The curler fits the whole of my lashes and allows me to make my dull straight lashes look naturally curled. I was a bit wary about using these as I was worried that I would pull out some of my eyelashes but not once has this happened and the rubber padding isn't hard on the lashes. 

The first time I used these I was so confused about what I was doing but now I can use these without even having to look in the mirror. Once the eyelash curler is in place around three to four long squeezes gives the natural curl look where I can then apply mascara. I use a lash curling mascara to define the curl look. Throughout the day my eyelashes do loose the curled look a bit though I always carry it round with me as it fits into my bag and top up the curl quickly. 

A little bit of a steep price for a lash curler (£16.00) but the product is worth the price. A spare rubber pad comes with the curler so don't loose it as refills aren't sold.

Midi Rings

I'm not one to wear rings because they tend to annoy me or fall off though I can't resist a midi ring. I picked up these midi rings (or finger top rings as it says) the other day when I went into town. Now I know I shouldn't be buying things being on a student budget and that but they were £2 each which to me is a bargain for jewellery. The ones pictured above are from River Island though you can pretty much go into any clothing or jewellery shop and find midi rings for quite a cheap price. 

If you've just painted your nails and want to draw attention to them midi rings do just that as they sit further up the finger and draw attention to your nails. Midi rings also work well if you're wearing lots of other rings on your fingers as they create a balance on  your hands.

Monthly Favourites | February 2014

It's finally the start of March which means it's goodbye to February and a few days till my 19th birthday. I haven't done a post about my monthly favourites of the past month but I think it's what my blog needs. Here are some of the things that I've been using a lot and obsessing over in February. 

I have suddenly got a slight obsession with elephants and when I saw these pajamas in Primark they just had to be bought. They are so comfy to wear in bed and for just lounging around the flat which is what I tend to be doing most days. I've seen a lot of pj bottoms this style in Primark with the elasticated cuff at the bottom and personally I think they're great.

These are my Topshop Agra Boots and I must say they are never off my feet. These are perfect for wearing in the day and are great for going out when I can't be dealing with heels. They seem to match everything I have in my wardrobe, even a pair of joggers go well with these. I think I may have to do a post where I style outfits with these very soon. 

The bad thing about where I live is that I have to leave the flat just to wash my clothes and on the days where my skin doesn't want to cooperate this Rimmel Stay Matte foundation is perfect. It's none cakey and it's quick and easy to apply using your fingertips. It's going in my favourites for the month as I don't know how I would have coped without it when my L'Oreal foundation ran out and it's super handy to have in my makeup box. 

I was given this Artdeco eye shadow palette for christmas and this month I haven't gone a day without using it. It lasts all day and the colours are perfect. My step mum bought me this and I don't know what I ever did without it. 

After christmas I seem to have been going out a lot and this Garnier Summer Body Mouisturzing lotion has allowed me to walk around with my legs out without my pale legs showing. 

Malteser Bunnies are the one. I don't think I've been on a food shop and not come back with three of them. I couldn't resist the other day and bought the box of five and it's safe to say that my beach body will have to wait until these are discontinued after Easter. 

My MAC studio fix fluid has ran out (shedding a tear) and now I don't know what to do. It's going in my february favourites as I used up the last of it all throughout the month. Not to worry though my mum has been informed and its on the birthday list. If your looking for a MAC foundation to try I would recommend giving this one a go but do go and get your colour matched before purchasing it. 

I hope you like this post don't know whether it's as good as I hoped but I might start doing this as a monthly thing.

L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation

My days of searching for a day to day foundation are finally over. I'm now onto my fourth bottle of this and have been using it for around a year now. 

With the name 'True Match' it's right that there are 20 shades to choose from so you are sure to find a shade that will match your skintone. I matched myself with the lightest colour 'Rose Ivory'. 

Two small pumps of the foundation covers my face and any blemishes that I have. It's quite a liquidy consistency which is great for when I use my Real Techniques expert face brush as it can easily be blended to the skin. The formula of the foundation is also oil-free which is great for my as I have oily/combination skin. This is a lightweight foundation which is great for day wear though it is quite thin which means that the odd extra appliance throughout the day could be needed. Priced at £9.99 this to me is a standard price to pay for a foundation in Boots/Superdrug. 

This won't be the last time I buy this foundation, has anyone else tried this?

Tattoo Choker

Childhood is back once again in the form of the choker. I haven't worn one of these since I was around the age of five in primary school and I certainly didn't think I would be wearing one again at uni. The choker has been creeping its way back into fashion and now the tattoo choker that was a big hit in the 90's has returned. Nothing about them has changed since they were last around they're still stretchy and can still be bought in many different colours. I purchased mine for around £3 on eBay though they are making there way into high street shops as Topshop has recently stocked up on them. 

The tattoo choker does have mixed reviews about it as its not everyones choice of accessory though I think its a great way of adding something different to an outfit especially since they're so cheap.

Everyday makeup

It might just be me being a nosey person but I do like to know what other people use on a day to day basis for their everyday make-up. I have an everyday make-up routine and then a going out routine. My everyday make-up has to be light and natural you don't want to be walking round all day feeling like your face is caked full of foundation and powder. Before applying my make-up I wash my face and make sure that my face isn't oily. It might not be the best thing to do but I like to wash my face with water and then use an Origins spot treatment pad to remove some excess dirt.

Stay Matte Powder Translucent*

*M.A.C 217 brush, Real Techniques Stipling brush, Real Techniques Expert Face brush and Real Techniques Powder brush*

As the base for my face I use the Origins Ginzing moisturiser, it's great for a base as it doesn't feel heavy on your face and small amounts go a long way. I used to use a M.A.C foundation but for everyday use it turned out to be quite a pricey thing to be replacing a lot so I needed to find a cheaper alternative. This L'Oreal Paris True Match foundation is perfect for everyday use as it covers my blemishes well from redness to freckles and is lightweight. It is a very liquid based foundation which makes it easier to apply around the face using the Real Techniques Expert Face brush. The shade of the foundation I wear is Rose Ivory which is the lightest shade available to purchase. 

As I have quite oily skin to make sure that the foundation look matte I finish off using the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in translucent so that it doesn't add anymore colour to my face but takes away the shine from my t-zone. This is a cheap buy and defiantly worth having to hand. 

Blusher is a must when it comes to adding a touch off colour to my face and I especially love using cream blushers. I have two cream blushers from Topshop that I alternate using but my favourite colour is 'Afternoon Tea' as its pigmented, gives a rosy glow and looks pretty . Some don't use cream blushers because they don't know how to apply it but I have found that using the Real Techniques Stipling brush allows the blusher to be applied with ease.

Whilst applying make-up to my face I leave some lip balm on my lips to make sure that my lips are not chapped for applying lipstick. I usually like to use my favourite lipstick which is the Topshop Innocent lipstick which is a perfect light pink that is also moisturising on the lips.

Curling my eyelashes are a must in for me in the morning if I didn't do this I would be left with straight lifeless lashes. I use the M.A.C full lash curler (blog post on that here) before applying the No7 Lash Adapt mascara. No7 mascaras are the best mascaras I have tried so far however I cannot use mascaras with a plastic wand. Some days I like to add some shimmer to my eyes so I use M.A.C Naked Lunch as it is a natural colour and the girl at the counter said it would be good as a base colour to my eyes. 

I am no expert when it comes to eyebrows and mine are not really the best shape but I work with what I have. The other day it was buy one get one half price in boots for L'Oreal products and since I was repurchasing my foundation it only seemed right to give a new brow pencil a go and I can say it was a good choice. The colour of this brow pencil is medium brown which matches up with the colour of my natural eyebrows. Without using this my eyebrows would have no shape to them and be all over the place which to me is a complete no no. 

Hope I have managed to give a slight insight into my everyday make-up. I am going to write about my going out make-up as there are changes to this routine.

The A-Line Skirt

The A-Line skirt has made an appearance to my wardrobe. This style of skirt fits nicely onto the hips and gradually widens at the hem. 

I found the white skirt when looking for something new to wear for a night out. I saw this on ASOS and knew it could be paired well with tops that I already had. White screams risky and it is a risky colour to go out in but I am willing to risk it. I style this with a cami or an off the shoulder crop top and being white a lot of colours can be matched with it. For footwear a pair of chunky heeled black boots can give this a more casual grunge look or heels to make it more formal. 

My PU leather skirt from Topshop goes with everything in my wardrobe. Leather skirts have come back into fashion and this is a slight change from a straight leather skirt. With front zip pockets and a quilted look anything can be styled well with this. For a more dressed up look I pair this skirt with a: crop top, cami or blouse and if its cold a kimono or leather jacket. For casual day to day wear T-shirts, checked shirts and cropped jumpers match up well along with a: leather jacket, parka, denim jacket or cardigan. 

Hopefully summer will be good this year and I can get more wear out of the skirts. More A-Line skirts should be appearing coming to my hands soon.

A new love for the Triangle Bra

A slight change from the usual beauty product post but on this blog I want to branch out more and do the odd post on clothes and lifestyle. 

What a better way to start the change by talking about bras. For me I love shopping for underwear and trying to find really cute pieces online and suddenly people can't seem to get enough of the Triangle Bra style, especially in lace. My Instragram is full of images of some of the nicest Triangle Bras I've seen.

I love Triangle Bras some bras look dull and boring but to me but these look dainty and delicate. I was aimlessly scrolling through ASOS lingerie section when I found this floral triangle bra with a lace border around it. I bought it a few months back I think it I bought it for £16 and it's totally worth it. Now I cannot stop looking online to find more Bras in this style and I'm hoping to find a mesh style soon. 

What are your opinions of Triangle Bras, do you love them or hate them?

Topshop Lip Bullet | Wine Gum

I can never leave Topshop empty handed, I always feel the need to buy something and this is how I required this Lip Bullet. 

I've always had pink or nude lip colours and fancied a change. I couldn't talk myself into buying MAC's Rebel so when I saw this in Topshop for only £8 it had to be done, and when wearing this one day I was asked whether I was wearing Rebel.

This Lip Bullet is in the colour Wine Gum. The colour is very pigmented and is a deep wine red colour. The product itself is very moisturising when applying it onto the lips which is good for chapped lips as it doesn't sink into the cracks and dry up, Leaves a satin finish. Wearing this all day it's very long lasting meaning I only had to reapply it around twice in the day. I usually choose to wear this on a night out as it gives a perfect finishing look with winged eyeliner. 

The one tip I would say to take on board with this lip product is always check your teeth after applying, not the best look when you have lipstick stuck on your teeth.

Bleach London | Silver Shampoo

I'm slowly making my way through the Bleach London products available at Boots. For a few weeks now I've been trying out their silver shampoo. I've been using the Pro. Voke silver shampoo up to now and it does work well but I have found it leaves my hair quite dry even if I use quite a bit of conditioner so I was glad to find Bleach did their own version. 

Don't be put off at how much of a deep purple this comes out like it's perfectly normal. Because of the cap you have to be quite careful of how much you pour out as it runs out quite fast. I use this on the ends of my hair once a week alternating it with my normal shampoo. After leaving it on for around 5 minutes so it can take full effect. I always love how silver shampoo turns your water such an amazing colour of purple. 

This product doesn't leave my hair feeling dry I always have soft to touch hair with a fresh clean smell to it. The dip dye of my hair is bleached so this silver shampoo knocks all the brassy tones right out and has made it a lovely light blonde. I have noticed that each time I use it my hair looks light as though my dip dye has just been re-done professionally. If your looking for a silver shampoo to try this is defiantly something I would recommend.

Bleach London | White Toner

There has been so much hype over Bleach London's new range on blogs and social media. Recently Bleach launched its brand within Boots. After reading so many reviews about the products I decided it was time for me to test them out. 

The Bleach London white toner states that it is 'Semi Permanent, nourishing hair dye to tone and transform brassy and yellow blondes to silver, platinum or white blonde to banish yellow from your blonde.' The product comes in a box with: A tube of colourant, a bottle of developer lotion, a repairing treatment mask, plastic gloves and an instruction leaflet. 

I have never done any home dying before so you can say I am a novice at it. It is really easy to make the mixture as you just need to squeeze the colourant into the developer lotion and apply from then. As I was only using the dye for my dip dye I only needed to apply it to the ends. I left the mixture on for 20 minutes as stated and then washed off. I then proceeded to use the hair mask for 10 minutes afterwards. The dye didn't smell horrible or itch and it was easy to apply. I followed my using the hair mask which made my hair feel so soft to touch and has made the condition of my hair so much better. 

I had high hopes for this product but it didn't turn my hair platinum or white which was a shame as I would have liked to have seen my hair like that though my brassy tones are no more. I thought that this had done nothing to my hair though after having feedback from others it looks lighter than usual. I wouldn't buy this product again as I don't think it is for me though for £7 it was worth a try. I am planning on buying one of the coloured dyes and giving those a try.

Maybelline Long Lasting Gel Liner

Finally I have found the right eye-liner for me. For a while now I’ve been using eye-liner on and off and have never really thought of using a gel eye-liner as I preferred just using a liquid pen liner. I had thought about buying a gel eye-liner from M.A.C but as I’d never tried one before I didn’t want to be spending so much money on something I might not like.

When I was on a night out I had used a cheap pen liner and after being squirted in the eye with perfume from my friend my eye-liner rubbed off really bad which made me realise I really did need a waterproof or longer lasting liner. I was actually recommended this eye-liner from a friend as one night out it managed to stay on all throughout the night right till the morning and lasted the perfume incident. This eye-liner can be found in drug stores at a reasonable price of £7.99 and it comes in small glass jar and a professional brush which turns out a lot cheaper than if you were to just buy a M.A.C pot. The eye-liner isn't heavy on your eyes it feels lightweight and is hard to smudge, it is also a thick consistency in the jar but isn't too thick when applying which helps. A little goes a long way with this eye-liner as I have been using this for a number of weeks now and I have only used a small amount of the pot so it is well worth the money.  After finding this eye-liner I have now re kindled my love for using eye-liner. 

MAC Prep and Prime Eye Base

When I went to New York I had a list of things I wanted to buy when I was in the M.A.C store 
when I was over there and this was one of them. I wasn't too sure whether to buy this or not as I wasn't too sure whether it would be a waste of money or not but after speaking to the girl who served me I was persuaded to buy it. 

I have this in the shade 1.0 which is the lightest shade as I have fairly pale skin and unlike other primers I have seen this primer is coloured and allows you to neutralise the lid colour before applying the eye shadow. The Prep and Prime eye base is easy to apply on the lids and does make eye shadow longer lasting which saves me the hastle of having to take even more make up out with me. I have also found that this pro longs the eye shadow sinking into creases making my makeup look oily only a while after applying.

Burts Bees Nourishing Lip Balm

No one wants to be walking round with chapped lips especially when you want to wear lipstick. After mooching down the isle with all the lip balms I spotted the Burts Bees Nourishing Lip Balm and as you can probably tell it went into my basket. It is one of the necessary items that will always should be found at the bottom of your bag. 

This is the nourishing mango butter lip balm which I am defiantly going to repurchase this once mine runs out, there are other flavours to choose from if your not so keen on mango or even having a flavoured lip balm. The thing I love about this lip balm is that it doesn't leave a sticky feel on your lips, it isn't the kind where any gust of wind and your hair sticks to your lips. I apply this in the morning whilst doing my make-up so my lips are nourished before applying any lipstick. A definite must buy if you are looking for a new lip balm to buy. 

MAC Lipstick Review - Please Me

I bought this Lipstick when I was in New York, I'm never adventurous with lipsticks I always stick to nudes and pink colours as they best suit my skin tone. I love the MAC stand especially the lipsticks there's so many to choose from. 

I picked up this gorgeous pink lipstick called 'Please Me' which is a very matte lipstick which isn't a too bright or dark pink. It is the type of pink that you can wear on a daily basis without it looking too much. I've noticed that with this lipstick it has a very long lasting finish but as this is very matte I always find it sinks into the cracks in my lips so to stop this I always use a lip balm first then this over the top to make it easier to apply.
